Lupakan sekejap pasal Iron Maiden

Sekarang memang musim orang bercakap pasal Iron Maiden.

Antara yang aku follow lagi ialah The Will Kill Us All dengan lagu "Sepanjang Riwayatku". Walaupun mula-mula dengar macam agak pelik, mungkin belum biasa dengan vokalis baru, Edwin yang dahulunya di posisi gitar, tapi lagu ni aku dah ulang banyak dan terbukti sangat masyuk!

Aku rasa usaha sebegini memang bagus, menarik sebab budak akan mula bercakap pasal lagu-lagu P. Ramlee dan siapa lagi akan mengangkat karya P. Ramlee kalau bukan orang-orang kita.

Crazy Train atau Peace Train?

Tajuk notes Yusuf Islam agak pelik hari ni, Clash of the Crazy Peace Trains. Sehinggalah aku ternampak gambar ini..

Yusuf and Ozzy at Rally to Restore Sanity, 30 Oct 2010.

Ya! Ozzy Osbourne di situ. Rupa-rupanya ada pertembungan keretapi Ozzy dan Yusuf. Layan dulu video nih..

Jadi nak naik mana satu, "Crazy Train" atau "Peace Train"? Mari kita lihat apa kata Ozzy..

"Gua pilih Peace Train!" sambil menunjuk isyarat peace di tangannya.

P.S: Menurut Rolling Stone, selepas itu ada kemunculan O'Jays dengan lagu "Love Train". Haih, banyak pulak keretapi nak lalu..

Soal jawab bersama Steve Hackett

Selamat membaca!

Alison Henderson: You were seen at the Porcupine Tree gig at the RAH and appeared with Transatlantic at High Voltage. Which other bands do you think carry the torch for prog rock currently.

Hi Alison, I think Mews are a prog band in spirit and I loved the Porcupine Tree gig. I've just done some work recently with Steven Wilson and we've become friends. I'm looking forward to having him onboard at the Shepherds Bush Empire. Hope you can come!

Tal Eylon: Is there any new album planned?

Hi Tal, yes I'm working on it for next year. Meanwhile there's a live one that'll be available both on tour and online.

Zulhelmi Sabri: What is the latest album you've listened to?

Hi Zulhelmi, the last album I was listening to was a collection of the works of Grieg.

Bora Çetin: I want to ask something from last album; "Out Of The Tunnel's Mouth". I wonder about the last song; "Last Train To Istanbul"? It's very exciting for me (and sure all Turkish fans). Will you please tell me, the story behind this song? Thank yo...u. Best wishes from Istanbul.

Hi Bora, I heard some great Turkish music in Sarajevo, Bosnia wafting through the air in a bazaar. I was impressed by both the place and the music. My partner Jo said that she remembered a similar atmosphere in Istanbul. I'd really like to go there sometime.

Will Fender Mellors: Hi Steve, I play guitar and I wondered what equipment you use to acheive your guitar sounds? Best wishes from Devon.

Hi Will, these days I use a Fernandes sustainer plus a Sans Amp plus various reverbs and echoes. My latest toy is a digitech whammy pedal.

Ramiro Ezequiel Moreno: I wanna know what your distortion/overdrive pedal of choice is. I wanna nail those "Firth of Fifth" tones.

Hi Ramiro, the Sans Amp is the one I use these days. Originally I used a tonebender plus an echoplex.

Eargasm! Oh yeah..

Jim Buntinx: Did you ever had the chance to meet Andrès Segovia (or any other icon of the classical guitar) in person? What was the most enlightening comment you had from him that might have influenced you in your work?

Hi Jim, I never met Andres Segovia but saw him play live in London. He's perhaps the most magical guitarist of all time. I haven't met any of my classical guitar heroes.

Jon Dahms: We know you are a modest guy Steve but the writing and sound on A Trick of the Tail & Wind & Wuthering are utter legend. The live sound on Seconds Out is just stunning... how did you develop that unique sound?

Hi Jon, at times I tried to make the guitar sound like a violin but sometimes it sounds more like brass. The electric has a versatile character which can sound very much like a woman's voice from time to time...

Lee Ritchie: Hello Steve, hello Jo. I know I keep mentioning it but - Hammer in the Sand - how did that title come about? Is there some meaning? It's still my favourite track by a long, long way. Please play it at Holmfirth. Pleeeeeeaaaase?

Hi Lee, I'm glad you like the track. I was thinking of Russia at the time and also Rachmaninov. Maybe we'll play it at some point down the line... I'm proud of that one.

Anthony Ferraro: Please, will the Live at Montreux 1980 see a proper release on DVD..

Hi Anthony, I hope so, at some point.

Tommy Seidita: Hi Steve, I recall reading when you auditioned with Genesis you had them come to your home and you and your brother played them some stuff you had written. I was wondering if that those tunes ever got used on any of your solo or Genesis' albums.

Hi Tommy, yes, we played the piece which became the coda of The Hermit on Voyage of the Acolyte.

Genesis ketika bersama dengan Peter Gabriel.

Andy W Nichols: Steve, do you have a particular favorite classical piece? Although not guitar, my hands down fav. is Bruch's violin concerto in G. Spine tingling!

Hi Andy, I'm a big classical fan. I like Bruch - in particular the violin concerto and his wonderful symphony no.3.

Dan Trachtenberg: Steve, When is the live album coming out? Any more NY dates?

I'm hoping that it'll be ready for the UK tour next month. No more NY dates yet, but looking into more USA dates for next year.

Bob Humphrey: Love the classical albums. Any chance of playing live in full with orchestra? Not cheap sure but what about as part of the Proms? What a great show it would be!

Hi Bob, sounds like a good idea. I'll try to fit it round the rock 'n roll and I'd love to play with an orchestra again sometime.

Mike Grant: When Steve left Genesis, what motivated this move from such a successful band and did he ever regret this move at the time?

Hi Mike, the lure of new music unfettered by committee decisions proved irresistible. I was unsure at first but I didn't regret the move.

Mark Feggeler: If you could pick a few dream musicians to collaborate with for a special song or two, regardless of the difficulty of recreating the song on the road without them, who would they be?

Hi Mark, I'd love to play with Anthony Phillips, Graham Nash and Ritchie Havens.

Sally Ing: My favourite Beatle was George Harrison, he wrote many beautiful melodies, some of them still signifcant today. Who was your favourite, if you had one. I`m a nightowl but also a daydreamer do either you or Jo have these traits and do you find that it helps to be so when you`re composing your music? Sorry that this question comes late. Have just finished getting my 8 yo & 3 1/2 yo`s uniforms and lunches ready for school.

Hi Sally, I love the Beatles both all together and individually - I don't have a favourite. I normally write first thing in the morning when others are still sleeping! Jo refers to either last thing at night or first thing in the morning as "the hour of poetry".

Many thanks everyone! Til the next time,

Warmest wishes,

Steve

Kenalkan, Syd Barrett yang gila..

Baru-baru ni ada sorang blogger, Moloko, katanya album Pink Floyd iaitu The Wall, antara album paling luar biasa manusia pernah hasilkan. Yup! Aku setuju.

The Wall versi filem lakonan Bob Geldof

Suatu ketika dulu memang aku selalu dengar album ni.

Whoa? Meh sini aku kenalkan ex-frontman Pink Floyd, Syd Barrett yang gila..

Syd Barrett (tengah)

Karya Syd Barrett mungkin kurang dikenali.

Tema ini jelas dalam album The Dark Side of the Moon, Wish You Were Here dan sudah semestinya The Wall.

Pink Floyd

Aku pun dah lama tak ambil tahu pasal Pink Floyd. Jenguk-jenguk depa punya facebook page, sekali depa baru keluarkan album compilation Syd Barrett, tajuknya An Introduction to Syd Barrett.

On October 11th (November 9th for US) An Introduction To Syd Barrett, a brand new collection that will bring together for the first time the tracks of Pink Floyd and Syd Barrett on one compilation will be released. To experience the interactive 3D booklet and hear clips for all the tracks, click HERE.
Sekali tengok cover album ni memang tak tahan. Style! Macam familiar.

Cucilah mata sampai lebam..

Trivia: Loque, gitaris Butterfingers dan sekarang frontman monoloQue dulu pernah post kat facebook dia, katanya dia start main gitar dengan lagu "In the Flesh", salah satu lagu dalam album The Wall.

John Lennon

Adakah John Lennon seorang atheist? Katanya,
Tajuk lagu ni "Imagine". Lagu ni agak freethinker sikit kalau kau dengar lirik dia masa dia dengan Ono tu, dia tu lebih kurang ikon freethinkers sebelum kena tembak mati.
Kebanyakan daripada kita beranggapan freethinkers adalah atheist (disbelief in the existence of a god or gods). Dalam hal ni Filippino Freethinkers ada menyebut,
Freethought is not the same as atheism. Freethinking is a way of thinking that can lead to different conclusions. Although most freethinkers are nontheistic — atheists, agnostics, deists — many freethinkers still reach religious conclusions. However, theistic freethinkers do tend to have more liberal or progressive religious views than other believers.
John Lennon sememangnya agak lantang dalam mengkritik institusi keagamaan tetapi adakah dia seorang atheist? Ini jawapan John Lennon dalam interview terakhirnya,
People always got the image I was an anti-Christ or antireligion. I'm not. I'm a most religious fellow. I was brought up a Christian and I only now understand some of the things that Christ was saying in those parables. Because people got hooked on the teacher and missed the message.(Source: Playboy 1981)

War is big business, you know, and they like war ’cause it keeps them fat and happy, and I’m antiwar so they’re trying to keep me out.

Do everything for peace. Piss for peace or smile for peace or go to school for peace or don’t go to school for peace. Whatever you do, just do it for peace.
His message is timeless. Peace & Love!

Gua dulu main dengan the Beatles.

Lagu terbaru Megadeth, "Sudden Death" dibuat eksklusif untuk game Guitar Hero: Warior of Rock. Dengar intro pun dah kencang, mesti bersepah-sepah tangan budak-budak yang nak main lagu ni. Available for streaming on September 28. Berita penuh boleh baca SINI.

Sekadar nak berkongsi satu benda berkaitan Megadeth.

Megadeth - Behind the Music

Dave Mustaine pun layan lagu folk Cat Stevens daa.
I think that's where a lot of melody that I learned came from was, you know, Cat Stevens is a fantastic songwriter.
So, how about a collaboration between Megadeth and Yusuf Islam?
"Saya tak ada masalah. Lagipun saya memang minat lagu Peace Sells," kata pencipta lagu Peace Train ini.

Reunion & New Material

New material is all we need after reunion and great shows. Masih dalam konteks yang sama, aku mau cerita salah satu album gempak yang dihasilkan oleh band yang kembali reunite iaitu album Part the Second dari kumpulan maudlin of the Well.

Part the Second (2009)
  1. "An Excerpt from 6,000,000,000,000 Miles Before the First, or, the Revisitation of the Blue Ghost" – 10:55
  2. "Another Excerpt: Keep Light Near You, Even When Dying" – 5:59
  3. "Rose Quartz Turning to Glass" – 7:30
  4. "Clover Garland Island" – 8:18
  5. "Laboratories of the Invisible World (Rollerskating the Cosmic Palmistric Postborder)" – 11:50

Death, Individual Thought Patterns (1993)

My lifestyle determines my deathstyle! - Metallica (Song: Frantic)

Iron Maiden, A Matter of Life and Death (2006)

and the Almighty says, "O you who believe! Do not let your wealth or children divert you from the remembrance of Allah. Whoever does that is lost. Give from what We have provided for you before DEATH comes to one of you and he says, 'O Lord, if only you would give me a little more time so that I can give sadaqa and be one of the righteous.' Allah will not give anyone more time, once their time has come. Allah is aware of everything you do." (63:9-11)

ARTIST SUMMARY

Genres: Progressive, Alternative, Rock, Psychedelic.

ARTIST BIO

Fusing melody, ambiance and heavy riffing to chimerical effect Noxshi conjure thoughts of Zappa, Nirvana and Hendrix. Infectious songs interweave with improvisations amid the spiraling sounds of the infinite. The band have recently completed the recording of their debut album ‘The Way They Lush’. Mixing duties were undertaken by David Tickle (Prince, Peter Gabriel and U2) with mastering by Howie Weinberg (Red Hot Chili Peppers, Soundgarden, The Mars Volta, Jeff Buckley, Kyuss). To support the album Noxshi have produced a video for the track ‘Mesh Voyeurist’ which sees the band play on their psychedelic imagery of dream worlds and carnival.

Formed in North London in mid 2008 Noxshi grew out of the central axis of singer Yoriyos and guitarist Hallam Kite. Swedish bassist Alex Gabay brings an unorthodox, highly rhythmic playing style. Keys, samples and atmospherics are provided by Ben Steer. The Drums on ‘The Way They Lush’ were recorded by Philippe Boudot who has, since the recording process, been replaced by another Swede, Erik Fastén. The name Noxshi (Knock-she) relates to an area of the Caucasus, a region that represents the meeting of the Islamic East with the secular West. (READ MORE)

Is this a test?

"Is this a test? It has to be. Otherwise I can't go on." (Tool, The Patient)

Sesuai dilayan apabila:
  1. Anda goyang ketika sedang menempuh liku-liku kehidupan.
  2. Laptop anda bermasalah dan anda pula tak tentu arah.
  3. Beberapa urusan kerja cuba mencuri masa lapang anda.
  4. Keimanan anda digugat ketika bulan puasa ini.
  5. CD Iron Maiden Final Frontier belum dijumpai!
Bersabarlah sebagaimana bersabarnya rasul-rasul ulul azmi (Al-Ahqaf 46:35)

Tragedi Berdarah Mavi Marmara

Detik tentera Israel menembak Furkan Dogan

Dalam video tu Israel mendakwa, "They (activists) initiated the violence."

Kesannya sangat teruk sehingga tulang pecah menjadi serpihan kecil.

Birds of Paradise

Many dreams we share my brothers
Many tears we dare not share
The sand of our life goes quickly blowing
To the heavens with our prayers
On the sea of time we travel
Each and every one who lives
May my journey end in greeting
The shores in which my brothers rest
La ilaha illa Allah
Every day and every night
La ilaha illa Allah
To paradise these birds take flight

More than seeking ease and riches
More than wanting is to give
We’re each a child unto each other
So treat and teach your children well
From the mountains soon to crumble
From the skies so full of pain
The oceans to the stars they wonder
Why we find it hard to say
La ilaha illa Allah
Every day and every night
La ilaha illa Allah
To paradise these words take flight

"Birds of Paradise" free download
(2.9 MB - last.fm
)

Yoriyos bukan penyanyi nasyid.

Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee (2007)

Beautiful World

It's a beautiful world we live in
A sweet romantic place
Beautiful people everywhere
The way they show they care
Makes me want to say
It's a beautiful world
Oh a beautiful world
For you

It's a wonderful time to be here
It's nice to be alive
Wonderful people everywhere
The way they comb their hair
Makes me want to say
It's a wonderful place
Oh what a wonderful place
For you, not me

Aku kenal lagu ini melalui album Renegades (2000), album terakhir Rage Against The Machine (RATM). Mungkin lagu paling ringkas RATM. Sebenarnya lagu ini adalah lagu cover. Lagu asal dinyanyikan oleh Devo dalam album New Traditionalists (1981).

Devo

Versi RATM kedengaran sedih dan sentimental. Namun, versi asal lagu ini sebenarnya kedengaran riang ria. Liriknya secara kasar menceritakan betapa indahnya dunia tetapi berakhir sebaliknya dengan ayat "for you, not me". Menurut Jerry Casale,

"We wanted to get everybody into a mood where people thought Devo was saying the world was really nice and saying the world was beautiful, then it turns out to be one man's opinion, which is mine, which is, while the world could be beautiful, it's not for me because of what I'm seeing." (from songfacts.com)

Kent State Massacre, 1970.

If A Tree Could Wander

Sejenak bersama puisi Rumi..

Oh, if a tree could wander

and move with foot and wings!

It would not suffer the axe blows

and not the pain of saws!

For would the sun not wander

away in every night ?

How could at ev'ry morning

the world be lighted up?

And if the ocean's water

would not rise to the sky,

How would the plants be quickened

by streams and gentle rain?

The drop that left its homeland,

the sea, and then returned ?

It found an oyster waiting

and grew into a pearl.

Did Yusaf not leave his father,

in grief and tears and despair?

Did he not, by such a journey,

gain kingdom and fortune wide?

Did not the Prophet travel

to far Medina, friend?

And there he found a new kingdom

and ruled a hundred lands.

You lack a foot to travel?

Then journey into yourself!

And like a mine of rubies

receive the sunbeams? print!

Out of yourself ? such a journey

will lead you to your self,

It leads to transformation

of dust into pure gold!

Look! This is Love - Poems of Rumi,

7 Recent Videos in My Favorites List

All my favorite videos can be viewed at kamerarosak's channel.

1. Deftones - Diamond Eyes [Live]

Album Deftones, Diamond Eyes (2010) memang membuatkan aku teruja. Lagu ni 1st time dirakam secara pro-shoot kalau tak silaplah dan aku sekali lagi sangat teruja!

P.S: Cepat gila Chino (vokalis) kurus.

2. Alice in Chains - Got Me Wrong [Live]

"Got Me Wrong" lagu lama Alice in Chains dan lagu favorite aku. Video diambil oleh salah sorang penonton semasa tour Black Gives Way to Blue. PADU!

3. Space Gambus Experiment feat. A.Samad Said - Di Bawah Bintang Mengerdip

Aku ada bercerita pasal video ni kat SINI.

4. Break of Reality - Welcome Home [Live]

Lagu asal oleh Coheed & Cambria dalam album Good Apollo One (2005). Break of Reality menterjemahkan lagu ni dengan gaya mereka. Aku takjub! Depa buat jalan tu macam bapak depa punya!

5. Bentara - Master Jedi

Bentara ialah ex-guitarist Langsuyr. Dalam blog dia, Bentara ada cakap, "Semua instrumen dalam rekoding ni aku yang buat termasuklah vokal (aku tau, suara tak sedap tapi takkan nak suruh Halim BROTHERS nyanyi kot? Mahal kena bayar tu)".

Bila dia buat lagu Master Jedi, aku terus suka. Lagu ni bercerita pasal Star Wars IV, V dan VI. Aku memang layan cerita Star Wars nih tambah2 Bentara yang buat lagu. Havoc & Chaos!

6. Noxshi - Mesh Voyeurist [Music Video]

Video pertama Noxshi, sebelum ni aku memang follow dengan vokalis ni punya projek solo iaitu Yoriyos untuk album Bury My Heart At Wounded Knee (2007).

7. Soundgarden - Beyond the Wheel [Live]

Creativity, and Dare to be Creative (10 Unusual Buildings in the World)

Taken from 10 Unusual Buildings in the World - StarProperty.my

"Dancing" building? Twisted-shaped house? Hotels that look like UFOs from afar? As impossible as it may sound, these buildings actually exist!

1. Wozoco Apartments (Amsterdam, Holland)
The Wozoco Apartments was built more than 55 years ago and it consists of 100 homes. It might seem that the extravagant design was pre-planned, but the fact is far from that. The design was actually "accidental". Initially, every unit was promised good natural lighting. However, this was only achievable for 87 units per block. Hence, lies the problem, as the request was for 100 units per block. So how did they add the remaining 13 units? They were protruded from the main structure, as you can see in the picture below.

2. The Crooked House (Sopot, Holland)
Crooked House was designed by Polish architect Szotynscy Zaleski. He was inspired by the fairytale illustrations of Jan Marcin Szancer and the drawings of the Swedish artist and Sopot resident Per Dahlberg. The most photographed building in Poland, the 4,000 square meter (approximately 43,000sq ft) house is located in the Rezydent shopping center in Sopot, Poland. Others call it the "Crazy House".

3. Blur Building (Yverdon-les-Bainz, Switzerland)
The Blur Building is an exhibition pavilion built for the Swiss Expo 2002 on Lake Neuchatel in the town of Yverdon-les-Bainz. With an area of 80,000sq ft, the primary building material is water from the lake. Water is pumped from the lake, filtered and shot as fine mist through high-pressure mist nozzles.

4. The Dancing House (Praque, Czech Republic)
The nickname, Dancing House, refers to the Nationale Nederlanden building in Praque. It was designed by Croatian-Czech architect Vlado Milunić and Canadian architect Frank Gehry. The building was built on a riverfront plot where the previous building was destroyed during the World War II.

The original name of the building was Fred and Ginger, after Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers, arguably the most famous dancing duo. Others call it the "Drunk House".

5. Device to Root Out Evil (Vancouver, Canada)
It’s a house! It’s a church! It is actually a sculpture designed by American sculptor Dennis Oppenheim. In year 2004, the bizarre statue was originally proposed to be installed at Stanford University, California. However, according to CultureKiosque.com, the proposal was rejected by the university’s president John L. Hennessy who argued that it might stir up a controversy because the sculpture looked like an inverted church.

Finally in year 2006, the sculpture found its home in Vancouver, Canada, when Oppenheim announced that it was bought over by a private foundation, the Benfic Foundation.

6. Reversible Destiny Lofts (Mitaka, Japan)
This nine-unit Reversible Destiny Lofts at Mitaka was built based on an unusual concept. The architectural concept was created by Shusaku Arakawa and Madeline Gins who made a point that home is a place to trigger one’s senses, instead of a place to relax!

The colourful building was created in memory of Helen Keller, the deaf-blind American author, political activist and lecturer.

7. UFO Houses (Sanjhih, Taiwan)
If you drive along the north coast of Taipei between Tamsui and Keelung about a year ago, you would be able to see a group of UFO-look-alike structures that were once supposed to be a holiday resort. According to Taipei Times, the UFO Houses were built in year 1978. However, the developer went bankrupt before the project was completed and it was abandoned halfway.

Since then, there had been rumours that the place was haunted. The UFO Houses were demolished in December 2009.

8. Wooden Gagster House (Archangelsk, Russia)
The 13-floor wooden house is said to be the highest wooden building in the world. Built by Nikolai Sutyagin's, a one-time gangster in Archangelsk, some people call it "the eighth wonder of the world".

Unfortunately, Sutyagin was imprisoned in year 1998 for racketeering. "When I went to prison, I was a millionaire," he said. "Now I'm penniless." According to Telegraph.co.uk, he is currently living at the bottom of the wooden skyscraper and spends his time taking visitors on tours that involve criss-crossing rotting planking and climbing icy ladders.

9. Le Palais Idéal a.k.a. Ideal Palace (Hauterives, France)
The structure was built by postman Ferdinand Cheval in April 1979. He was inspired by a stone he had tripped on and started building the structure, a process that took more than 33 years. Cheval spent the first 20 years building the outer wall of the structure. The palace is a mixture of inspirations from the Bible and Hindu mythology.

Cheval had requested to be buried in the palace, but it was illegal in France, so he built another mausoleum for himself.

10. Waldspirale Building (Darmstadt, Germany)
Waldspirale (Forest Spiral) is a 105-unit apartment that comes with a parking garage, a kiosk, a café and a bar (the last two are located at the top of the spiral).

Located at Darmstadt, Germany, the building was designed by Friedensreich Hundertwasser, a painter and architect from Austria. Hundertwasser was always fascinated by spirals and called straight lines “the devil’s tools.” The strange building consists of 1,000 windows, with none of them are of same shape.
