Reunion & New Material

Chris Cornell ada cakap yang Soundgarden akan mula kerja menulis material terbaru mereka. Boleh dengar SINI interview Chris Cornell bersama Zane Lowe BBC Radio.

Ini berita memang terbaik, mindgasm! New material is all we need after reunion and great shows. Masih dalam konteks yang sama, aku mau cerita salah satu album gempak yang dihasilkan oleh band yang kembali reunite iaitu album Part the Second dari kumpulan maudlin of the Well.

Muzik yang dibawa oleh maudlin of the Well (motW) pula boleh dikira sebagai sesuatu yang kompleks dan sememangnya sukar dihadam oleh peminat lagu pop tiga minit di radio. Secara umumnya, motW menggabungkan elemen jazz, metal, klasikal dan pada aku memang sesuatu yang avant garde.

Part the Second antara album favorite aku bagi tahun 2009. Elemen metal agak kurang berbanding album-album sebelumnya. Ada pengaruh dari Kayo Dot, band yang terhasil setelah motW berehat disebabkan kehilangan beberapa ahli tetap.

Aku ingat lagi waktu aku outstation jauh dari kampung tahun lepas. Kena pada satu malam aku keseorangan di site project yang sekelilingnya gelap gelita dan aku pasang balik lagu-lagu Part the Second. Saat itu, irama yang dihasilkan mencetuskan sesuatu yang indah dan mampu membuatkan anda menghargai sentimen dan nilai kehidupan.

Oh yeah! Akhirnya sampai juga album terbaru Iron Maiden nih. Terima kasih kepada rakanku, Ah Hong (Artist Gallery) yang sudi menempah stok baru untuk aku. Dia memang banyak membantu aku.

Album sebelum ni, A Matter of Life and Death (2006) rasanya dah cukup hebat. Macam mana pulak dengan album kali ni? Gua layan dulu...

Kali ini aku nak bercerita pasal salah satu topik yang dibincangkan di hari raya iaitu KEMATIAN. Memang bukan topik riang ria apatah lagi di hari raya pertama.

Death, Individual Thought Patterns (1993)

Kisah bermula dengan nenek aku yang menceritakan perihal orang yang di saat kematiannya begitu terseksa untuk menghembuskan nafasnya yang terakhir. Kata makcik aku, sememangnya benda sebegini terjadi sebab Allah nak beri pengajaran kepada hamba-hambanya yang lain.

Makcik aku seorang guru agama, jadi aku dengar tekun dengan harapan ada input berguna untuk diamalkan. Makcik aku (yang juga menantu kepada nenek) kemudian menyambung cerita berkenaan datuknya pula. Datuknya itu mempunyai keturunan alim ulama dari Jambi, Sumatera.

Iron Maiden, A Matter of Life and Death (2006)

Banyak yang diceritakannya. Diringkaskan ketika datuknya masih hidup, setiap kata-katanya itu berhikmah, perilakunya pula sentiasa membuatkan orang sekelilingnya senang, dan ingatannya sentiasa kepada Allah.

Dan setiap kali solatnya pula, dia sentiasa berdoa supaya diakhiri hidupnya dengan akhir yang baik dan dipermudahkan saat dia hendak mati...

ARTIST BIO

Fusing melody, ambiance and heavy riffing to chimerical effect Noxshi conjure thoughts of Zappa, Nirvana and Hendrix. Infectious songs interweave with improvisations amid the spiraling sounds of the infinite. The band have recently completed the recording of their debut album ‘The Way They Lush’. Mixing duties were undertaken by David Tickle (Prince, Peter Gabriel and U2) with mastering by Howie Weinberg (Red Hot Chili Peppers, Soundgarden, The Mars Volta, Jeff Buckley, Kyuss). To support the album Noxshi have produced a video for the track ‘Mesh Voyeurist’ which sees the band play on their psychedelic imagery of dream worlds and carnival. 

Formed in North London in mid 2008 Noxshi grew out of the central axis of singer Yoriyos and guitarist Hallam Kite. Swedish bassist Alex Gabay brings an unorthodox, highly rhythmic playing style. Keys, samples and atmospherics are provided by Ben Steer. The Drums on ‘The Way They Lush’ were recorded by Philippe Boudot who has, since the recording process, been replaced by another Swede, Erik Fastén. The name Noxshi (Knock-she) relates to an area of the Caucasus, a region that represents the meeting of the Islamic East with the secular West. (READ MORE)
